Social Day (6/29) || Anh Nguyen

Today was social day! We had our potluck first and then we had our activities. The food was so yummy and everyone bought such a wide variety. There was so much food too and it was so cute how everyone bought a bit of something and it ended up working out for everyone. My favorite food was the Korean rice cake and of course my vegan Mac and cheese (although it needed a bit more salt). After we ate and mingled with each other for a bit, we were called to the field to start our games! I got into my team and introduced ourselves again. It was nice seeing my team members after our online Roblox hangout. We started off talking about what plant from plant versus zombies would we be. It was really funny hearing everyone’s response and looking at the characters again. I haven’t played the game in so long so it was definitely nostalgic for me to look at the game characters again. Then we went to play our first game which was to be sorted into our plant versus zombie garden but only using Vietnamese! It was a bit hard for some of my team’s members but we used gestures and random words that we knew along with a reference sheet. Ian our awesome team leader quickly understood what we were and sorted us quickly into our garden. We called Dan over to check our work and WE WERE THE FIRST TEAM TO get is all right so that was exciting. Then we went to play our second game which was the relay race. I helped Katelyn with the first part of the relay race which was to get Katelyn across a field without hitting one of the deadly spots (cardboard spaces). I got her through safely and got our team to proceed with the next part of the race which was to act out a charades prompt. The keyword was Tall-nut which was the tall potato character for the game. Then we went to do our second part of the race which was the balloon transfer. Here you can see Team Peashooter during this part of the relay race. Ian and Joshua did that perfectly and the rest of our team did the wagon hand walk. We got second place for this game but everything was still so fun and it was nice getting to talk to everyone in the games. We then took a break and then ate some more food before proceeding back to our last game. Before we went to our next game, we were told we were tied for first place so the stakes were high. This next game was a Trivia Game and we answered various questions to win this game. My team, team Chomper, went against team Perfume-Nut (perfume shroom x tall nut) and won victoriously 11-2. The opposing team whenever they answered the question wrong or we answered it right had to catch water balloons to null our points so it was fun seeing them successfully catch the water balloon and also drop it as well! In the end, we announced the winners and Team Chomper won first place! After that we played with the left over water-balloons for fun since we ended the game early. Then we took our group photos and then headed out for the day. It was nice meeting all the providers that were there that day, they were all so sweet and supportive with some of the providers even participating in the games! It was also really nice to bond with my team members so that was super fun. Today was a memorable day for sure and made me feel really excited for the mission trip that is coming up in about 11 DAYS!
